Metso continues to strengthen its leadership in digital services for equipment performance for the minerals processing industry, with the number of connected equipment now exceeding 800.

The number has more than doubled since the launch of Metso’s Data-driven Performance Services in September 2025. These services deliver measurable customer value in the form of improved maintenance efficiency, safety, prevented failures, and increased overall productivity.
“Connected equipment enables fast analysis and actions through Metso Data-driven Performance Services. Based on our experience, failure prevention is high when using these services, with 80 – 90% of issues detected. In addition, customers have seen availability increase by up to 6% and CO2 emissions decrease by as much as 20% per tonne,” says Arttu-Matti Matinlauri, Vice President, Minerals Digital at Metso.
“Analysis is done by combining standard instrumentation, advanced analytics, and AI models with equipment failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) knowledge, supported by our experienced personnel at our Performance Centres.“
Real-world applications of Metso’s Data-driven Performance Services have demonstrated tangible operational impact, including significant reductions in unplanned downtime and avoidance of costly equipment failures. Early identification of developing issues allows customers to plan corrective actions proactively, thereby reducing operational risk and improving reliability and predictability of production.
Today, Metso has the capability to analyse connected individual assets and process islands holistically.
Connected equipment delivers reliability gains and measurable value at a customer site
At a customer site in South America, the deployment of Metso’s Data-driven Performance Services with connected equipment has delivered measurable improvements in operational performance and value creation.
The site has achieved a sustained reduction in unplanned downtime and increased operational reliability, as evidenced by longer meantime between failures, supported by proactive condition monitoring and timely field interventions.
Over the first six months of operation, the solution captured 94% of identified risks, enabling early detection and mitigation of potential failures. This has translated into significant business impact, including the avoidance of more than 215 hr of potential downtime and reduced spare parts need, resulting in total captured value of US$7.4 million.
