2026–2027 SME scholarships now available

An application window for the 2026–2027 SME scholarship season is currently open until 15 October 2026.

Each year, SME and the SME Foundation award approximately US$1.6 million in scholarships to qualified SME student members, with opportunities available for both undergraduate students and graduate students. Students who demonstrate academic success and a desire to pursue a career in the minerals industry should apply.

“Reinforcing the talent pipeline in the industry with young innovators remains core to our mission, especially in the current age where mining continues to gain recognition as being a primary source of technological advancement and sustainable practices,” said Melissa Russell, SME Executive Director and CEO.

“We are honoured to have a longstanding role in this and look forward to awarding this key funding to outstanding individuals who will meet the massive mineral demands of the present and future.”
