The Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME), its divisions and affiliates are once again offering scholarships to SME student members seeking a career in the mining and minerals industries.<\/p>\n

\"2026\u20132027<\/p>\n

An application window for the 2026\u20132027 SME scholarship season is currently open until 15 October 2026.<\/p>\n

Each year, SME and the SME Foundation award approximately US$1.6 million in scholarships to qualified SME student members, with opportunities available for both undergraduate students and graduate students. Students who demonstrate academic success and a desire to pursue a career in the minerals industry should apply. <\/p>\n

\u201cReinforcing the talent pipeline in the industry with young innovators remains core to our mission, especially in the current age where mining continues to gain recognition as being a primary source of technological advancement and sustainable practices,\u201d said Melissa Russell, SME Executive Director and CEO. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe are honoured to have a longstanding role in this and look forward to awarding this key funding to outstanding individuals who will meet the massive mineral demands of the present and future.\u201d<\/p>\n
