{"id":3786,"date":"2026-07-02T12:07:51","date_gmt":"2026-07-02T09:07:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mikhailinvest.com\/ai-boom-drives-record-surge-in-battery-demand\/"},"modified":"2026-07-02T12:07:51","modified_gmt":"2026-07-02T09:07:51","slug":"ai-boom-drives-record-surge-in-battery-demand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mikhailinvest.com\/zh\/ai-boom-drives-record-surge-in-battery-demand\/","title":{"rendered":"AI Boom Drives Record Surge in Battery Demand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"speakable\">Battery demand has soared in recent months as developers of data centers and AI computing are increasingly relying on battery energy storage to manage power surges, executives at battery start-ups have told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/55c10ef1-1589-47b2-9fa8-a2a04f5cf316?syn-25a6b1a6=1\">Financial Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For example, U.S.-based sodium-ion battery start-up Alsym Energy, backed by investments from India\u2019s Tata Group, has seen demand surge this year, as developers want energy storage to support their operations at times of extreme power fluctuations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBattery has become an essential component, not a desired component of data centres,\u201d Alsym Energy\u2019s CEO Mukesh Chatter told the FT.<\/p>\n<p>Alsym and other start-ups in the U.S., Europe, and Asia have also seen a surge in demand for batteries from data centers, company executives commented for the publication.<\/p>\n<p>Major battery manufacturers are also betting big on the soaring demand that comes from the AI data centers.<\/p>\n<p>The world\u2019s top battery manufacturer, CATL, expects sales of battery storage systems <a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/Energy\/Energy-General\/Worlds-Largest-Battery-Maker-Bets-Big-on-Energy-Storage.html\">to account for half<\/a> of its total sales in the coming years, signaling strong optimism about the battery storage sector as countries investing in alternative energy seek to make it more reliable.<\/p>\n<p>Battery storage is now essential not only for balancing the grid and reducing the waste of solar and wind generation, but also for providing storage for computing centers.<\/p>\n<p>Globally, battery storage installations are booming.
