{"id":7218,"date":"2026-10-21T18:15:05","date_gmt":"2026-10-21T15:15:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mikhailinvest.com\/australias-ifm-snaps-up-68-stake-in-abp\/"},"modified":"2026-10-21T18:15:05","modified_gmt":"2026-10-21T15:15:05","slug":"australias-ifm-snaps-up-68-stake-in-abp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mikhailinvest.com\/ru\/australias-ifm-snaps-up-68-stake-in-abp\/","title":{"rendered":"Australia\u2019s IFM snaps up 68% stake in ABP"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"hero\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theloadstar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/8259720c8e06a7859dfbc64d377e56bb-680x0-c-default.jpg\" alt=\"dreamstime_xs_193390593\" \/>\n<p>\u0418\u0414\u0415\u041d\u0422\u0418\u0424\u0418\u041a\u0410\u0422\u041e\u0420 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dreamstime.com\/immingham-harbour-entrance-sea-imminghamn-port-uk-july-image193390593\">193390593<\/a> | <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dreamstime.com\/photos-images\/cargo.html\">Cargo<\/a> \u00a9<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dreamstime.com\/arildlil_info\">Arild Lilleboe<\/a> | <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dreamstime.com\/\">Dreamstime.com<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<time datetime=\"2026-10-21\">21 October 2026<\/time><\/p>\n<p>Australian infrastructure fund IFM Investors is set to acquire a 68% stake in Associated British Ports (ABP), following months of rumours about possible bidders circling the UK\u2019s largest port owner and operator.<\/p>\n<p>ABP shareholders Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and OMERS today said they agreed to terms with IFM Investors to sell each of their respective 33.9% and 30% stakes in ABP, acquired in 2015 and 2006 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The price tag was not disclosed, although <em>\u00ab\u0424\u0438\u043d\u0438\u043a\u0441 \u0422\u0430\u0439\u043c\u0441\u00bb<\/em> estimated it to be over \u00a310bn, with the deal seeing IFM shrug off competition from India\u2019s Adani Group, as well as financial investors including Apollo and KKR.<\/p>\n<p>However, it would appear the terms were sweet enough to convince CPP that its 10-year investment cycle in ABP had come to an end.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis transaction represents an attractive opportunity to realise the value of our long-term investment and recycle capital into new opportunities, helping us deliver strong long-term returns for CPP contributors and beneficiaries, said James Bryce, MD and head of infrastructure at CPP Investments.<\/p>\n<p>According to the CapitalIQ platform, at the end of 2025 ABP boasted revenues of \u00a3792.5m and generated a net profit of \u00a3393.3m<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs an investor owned by Australian and UK pension funds, this transaction reflects our longstanding commitment to mobilising pension capital into UK infrastructure,\u201d said Kyle Mangini, global head of infrastructure at IFM Investors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look forward to supporting continued development of ABP\u2019s infrastructure and operations, drawing on IFM\u2019s long-term investment approach and experience across ports and other essential infrastructure assets,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, it is understood that the minority shareholders, such as Singapore sovereign wealth fund GIC and Kuwait\u2019s Wren House, will retain their holdings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAttracting investment from a fund managed by IFM Investors is a powerful endorsement of our business, our people, and our strategy,\u201d said ABP chief executive Henrik Pedersen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to unlock further growth opportunities, together with IFM Investors and our other shareholders, continuing ABP\u2019s long-term investment benefiting our customers, our local communities, and the UK.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The deal is expected to close mid-2027.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ID 193390593 | Cargo \u00a9 Arild Lilleboe | Dreamstime.com 21 October 2026 Australian infrastructure fund IFM Investors is set to acquire a 68% stake in Associated British Ports (ABP), following months of rumours about possible bidders circling the UK\u2019s largest port owner and operator.
