{"id":4316,"date":"2026-07-20T14:06:20","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T11:06:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mikhailinvest.com\/incheon-port-aims-to-boost-container-flows-from-malaysia-and-india-2\/"},"modified":"2026-07-20T14:06:20","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T11:06:20","slug":"incheon-port-aims-to-boost-container-flows-from-malaysia-and-india-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mikhailinvest.com\/ru\/incheon-port-aims-to-boost-container-flows-from-malaysia-and-india-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Incheon Port aims to boost container flows from Malaysia and India"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"hero\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/theloadstar.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/ac029ff612cb87614e2b013403fd5dc7-680x0-c-default.jpg\" alt=\"Incheon port\" \/>\n<p>Photo: @Incheon Port Authority<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<time datetime=\"2026-07-20\">20 July 2026<\/time><\/p>\n<p>South Korea\u2019s Incheon port is seeking to open more container shipping links with Malaysia\u2019s Port Klang and India\u2019s emerging market.<\/p>\n<p>Incheon Port Authority (IPA) officials and representatives of South Korean liner operators HMM, KMTC Line, and Namsung Shipping visited Port Klang and India recently.<\/p>\n<p>The geopolitical crisis in the Middle East has seen Port Klang-Incheon cargo flows drop 34% last year and another 13% in the first five months of this year.<\/p>\n<p>Malaysia\u2019s main container port is South-east Asia\u2019s busiest, after Singapore, and by strengthening its relationship with Port Klang, Incheon, the gateway into the Seoul metropolitan area, can tap into the region\u2019s vast network of feeder services and shipping routes, allowing it to offer shippers more destinations without needing to establish direct services to each.<\/p>\n<p>Port Klang has successfully competed with nearby ports like Singapore by offering significantly lower transhipment costs, sometimes up to 30%-40% lower, and for shipping lines, this makes it a highly cost-effective option.<\/p>\n<p>Port Klang is also seen as an alternative way to get South Korean exports, especially batteries, to South-east and South Asia and the Middle East, as Asian ports become more congested.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the high volumes, Port Klang has shown its ability to manage congestion, through strategies like diverting ships between its two main terminals (Northport and Westport), and streamlining gate operations.<\/p>\n<p>The South Korean delegates went on to Chennai.\u00a0Container flows between Incheon and India grew \u00a037% year on year between January and May, and IPA plans a new direct shipping service.<\/p>\n<p>IPA VP (operations) Kim Sang-ki said: \u201cWe\u2019re actively working to open up shipping routes for the smooth local export of promising South Korean exports like cosmetics, food, and fashion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Watch the latest episode of <em>The Loadstar Podcast<\/em> to understand El Nino and how it will impact shipping:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wbywd4gUfDs?si=0wFCaYD35L5CkI-D\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"> <\/iframe>\u00a0<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Photo: @Incheon Port Authority 20 July 2026 South Korea\u2019s Incheon port is seeking to open more container shipping links with Malaysia\u2019s Port Klang and India\u2019s emerging market.
